CONTENT MATTTERS TO ME FIRST AS AN ACTOR AND THE ROLE COMES ONLY NEXT

Talking about his career as an actor and his role in the popular serial Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chasma in particular, at a session in CINTA’s Act Fest in Mumbai, the popular actor Dilip Joshi opined that the content should be interesting as far as I am concerned when I am narrated the script for a TV serial or for that matter a feature film. Dilip continued, “Role to baad ki baat hain. I feel that TV has a different approach entirely. As far as Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chasma is concerned, we have kept an animated approach. I had read Tarakbhai way back ion 1970 as I am a Gujarati and he was very popular in Gujarati and is a legendary humorist.

The reason the serial Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chasma is extremely popular eve today eleven years after it was launched on SAB TV is that Asit Modi who is producing the serial keeps on encouraging me to keep on improvising from time to time. You get an idea as an actor, even when you get to see a prop on the sets of the serial”.
