There is this author Kabir Kapoor (Kunal Kapoor) who is struggling with his own hassles including a failed marriage and writer’s major block finds himself landing in a great trouble when a so called journalist cum detective cum blackmailer Ricky Rozario (Kareem Haaji) hired by his ex wife played by Vidya Malavade sets out to threaten to reveal his true identity, that too after squeezing the poor fellow with a hefty alimony because she is also angling after his Panchgani bungalow. The crux of the story is that when he meets a beautiful young girl called Suhana (Amyra Dastur) with a dark past, will he be able to overcome their demons and live happily ever after.
The worst thing about the film is that Amin Haaji has bothered to nor only write the insipid screenplay and produce as well as direct the film but also set out to act in a role that sees him dying faster than you expect him to disappear. Almost each and every actor does not seem to know what for is he or she there in the film, whether it is Atul Kulkarni or for that matter Achint Kaur, who walks in and out of the film with hardly any character worth etching.
Kunal Kapoor is just about passable but the biggest problem with the talented actor is that either he does not get roles which he deserves or he simply fails to get roles worth his salt. Amyra engages you with her batter in the beginning when she appears all of a sudden as a girl with a backpack. Often Salman Khan is blamed for casting his own camp of actors in films starring him or backed by him whether it is Jai Ho or Radhe. Aamir Khan and Amin Haaji also can be blamed for casting their camp actors like Raj Zutshi or Aditya Lakhia, who plays the role of a photographer who does not have even a single line worth delivering. Aamir Khan appears in a sexy dance number with Elli Avrram for no rhyme or reason
What on earth I wonder, a talent of reservoir like Neha Mahajan who had shown a lot of promise in several Marathi films including Coffee Ani Barach Kaahin is doing in a film like this. She is seen almost throughout the film and hardly is there any formidable scope for the girl, though she is seen in a Hindi film after two years after she was last seen in a skimpy role in Rohit Shetty’s Simbba.
Ashwini Kalsekar does her job well. But I cannot say the same thing about Amin Haaji or the unwieldy film which fails to hold your attention with its bland twists and turns.
My advice is to just skip the film as it is a tad tedious and confusing to watch!
